Assistant Tasting Room Manager

Chateau Grand Traverse is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Tasting Room management team. The Assistant Tasting Room Manager is required to assist both Tasting Room and Merchandise Managers to maintain quality customer service by applying our standards within the existing tasting room parameters, while taking active ownership of providing a professional and inviting environment for both staff and guests.

Position overview:

  • Perform all duties and assignments as directed by the Tasting Room Manager
  • Assume all daily tasting room related non-managerial duties
  • Assist the Merchandise Manager as required

Position duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Promote customer satisfaction with an emphasis on direct customer service
  • Serve customers directly as a part of daily rotation such as serving food and giving tours, etc.
  • Assist in supervising staff
  • Actively engage in opening and closing tasks
  • Process weekly wine orders and receiving
  • Count scheduled physical wine inventory
  • Schedule daily staff rotation
  • Assist in generating reports as required
  • Be familiar with shipping procedures
  • Be familiar with Inn reservations and check-in procedures, as well as the facility itself
  • Be familiar with Wine Club program and its enrollment procedures
  • Assist in product procurement procedures
  • Assist in processing purchase orders and reconciling invoices
  • Ensure accurate and safe money handling practices
  • Ensure proper food and wine handling procedures
  • Keep staff informed of new policies and procedures

  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to lift and carry 50 pounds on a repetitive basis
  • High school diploma
  • Valid and unrestricted driver’s license

Position hours and benefits:

  • Required to work 5 days a week in-season, 4 days a week off-season (or 40 hours, 32 hours respectively)
  • Required to work on weekends, some holidays and special events
  • Compensation: depends on experience
