Position Summary

If you desire a career in the wine industry and are hospitality minded, this new and exciting position is for you! The Assistant Tasting Room Manager will assist our Tasting Room and Merchandise Managers in providing quality customer service by applying our standards within the existing tasting room parameters, while also creating a professional and inviting environment for both staff and customers. The Assistant Tasting Room Manager will also be tasked with managing and assisting with enhancing our current patio operations. 

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assume all assignments directed by the Tasting Room Manager or Merchandise Manager
  • Assume primary management of patio activities
  • Assist with and brainstorm potential new events and specials to improve overall patio experience
  • Serve customers directly as a part of daily rotation
  • Assist in training and supervising new and current staff
  • Assume daily tasting room related non-managerial duties as scheduled
  • Assist in opening and closing the tasting room and ensure all tasks are completed
  • Learn and assist in maintenance of retail management programs
  • Assist in updating tasting room product database
  • Assist in or potentially manage daily patio operations and service 
  • Assist in processing wine orders
  • Assist with physical wine inventory
  • Schedule daily staff rotations
  • Assist in generating reports
  • Take shipping orders and be familiar with fulfillment procedures
  • Take Inn reservations and be familiar with check-in procedures
  • Be familiar with Wine Club program and its enrollment and fulfillment procedures
  • Work on all Old Mission Peninsula Wine Trail joint event days as scheduled
  • Work off-site events as needed
  • Coordinate with suppliers for product replacement and/or credit as instructed
  • Assist in processing purchase orders and reconciling invoices as needed
  • Understand and assist with product check-in procedures for accuracy

NOTE: Job duties may include standing for long periods of time, lifting and carrying cases of wine (must be able to carry up to 50 lbs.), daily cleaning chores, and complying with dress code.

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal qualities: dependable, friendly, attentive, motivated, and level-headed
  • Previous hospitality/tasting room experience not required, but encouraged
  • Team orientation with the ability to work in an environment that requires flexibility
  • A professional demeanor and appearance 
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Previous wine knowledge not required, but is a bonus
  • A strong desire to succeed at and build upon their position 

Hours and benefits:

  • Full-time position; may be required to work any day of the week, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays
  • Paid hourly to start, wage negotiable and based on experience
