About the Position

Chateau Grand Traverse is seeking an experienced Innkeeper & Hospitality Manager to oversee our boutique six-room Inn on Old Mission Peninsula. Located on the grounds of our family-owned winery, the Inn offers guests a distinctive Northern Michigan wine country experience combining personalized hospitality, estate-grown wines and beautiful surroundings.

This is a hands-on management position responsible for daily operations, guest satisfaction, housekeeping staff, reservations and property maintenance. We are looking for an organized, self-directed professional who takes pride in exceptional hospitality and is comfortable managing both people and the practical details of a boutique lodging property.

On-Site Residence Included

A significant benefit of this position is a private, two-bedroom, one-bathroom residence located on the winery property, adjacent to the Inn. The residence is available furnished or unfurnished, depending on the candidate’s needs, and includes covered utilities, internet service and dedicated parking. Suitable for an individual or couple, this provides a unique opportunity to live and work in the heart of Northern Michigan wine country.

Guest Experience & Reservations

Manage guest communications, reservations, arrivals, departures and special requests.
Oversee booking systems, room availability and guest itineraries.
Deliver personalized hospitality and resolve guest concerns professionally.
Promote wine tastings, culinary experiences, special events and guest packages.

Housekeeping & Staff Management

Recruit, hire, train, supervise and schedule seasonal and year-round housekeeping staff.
Establish cleaning standards, coordinate room turnovers and inspect accommodations.
Maintain cleanliness and presentation standards throughout the Inn and guest areas.
Personally assist with housekeeping, laundry and room turnovers when unforeseen staffing shortages or operational needs require additional coverage.

Property & Business Operations

Oversee daily Inn operations, property inspections and guest readiness.
Coordinate routine maintenance, repairs, contractors and service providers.
Manage supplies, linens, amenities, purchasing and inventory.
Monitor occupancy, departmental expenses and operating performance.
Maintain guest safety, security and hospitality standards.

Winery & Hospitality Coordination

Work with the Tasting Room, Executive Chef and winery management to coordinate guest experiences.
Support culinary events, private functions and special lodging packages.
Identify opportunities to improve guest satisfaction, occupancy and revenue.

Qualifications & Experience

Five or more years of experience in hospitality, lodging management or a comparable guest service leadership role preferred.
Demonstrated experience supervising employees, managing schedules and overseeing housekeeping operations.
Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
Experience with reservation systems and property management software.
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
Willingness to participate directly in daily operations when necessary.
Availability during weekends, holidays and peak hospitality periods.
Experience in boutique lodging, bed-and-breakfast operations, winery hospitality or destination tourism is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time, salaried position with compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications. The employment package includes the private on-site residence, covered utilities, internet and dedicated parking, along with applicable employee benefits and winery privileges.
